ROUND ONE 2nd Match-up

ManCake Slugger
GAME ONE (JAN.1.2000)
SLUGGER VS. MANCAKE

This match up proved to be devastating for Sluggo and merely good practice for ManCake. Overnight, weather conditions had changed considerably and the snowy area in front of the pits had become crusty and hard in some areas, with considerable pouff remaining in others. This made for tricky conditions indeed, and controversy soon arose. In the first end, Sluggo lost a rock in the snow at the front of the pit while trying to lay up and slide in as ManCake had been doing so well. After five minutes of searching in the snow in front of the rings, Pit-Boss Junior declared an unprecedented free substitution for the missing rock, owing to the lack of searching assistance and generally crappy job of rock-spotting that the Boss himself and the groomsman had done. The missing rock was later recovered in the 3rd end.
ManCake continued to be on fire end after end with flawless lay ups, slide ins and raises. Going into the 12th this human highlight reel already had two triples in the game and led 13-6. Perhaps the turning point in the entire match came in the twelfth as it looked like Sluggo was going to take a long single when, on his hammer rock, ManCake threw for a double-raise triple to win the game 16 - 6. The crowd was amazed and began chanting Sweetness in tribute to his delectable style of play.

FINAL SCORE
SLUGGER - 6
MANCAKE - 16
12 ends.

GAME TWO
SLUGGER VS. MANCAKE

ManCake (now Sweetness) continued to be on fire and Slugger appeared to be dead in the water. Was it the effect of too much beer or the different winter conditions? No one knows. Time after time, Slugger appeared poised to score his points and time after time Sweetness delivered a beauty with his hammer toss to Floyd Slugger. Going into the 11th end Sweetness was killing Slugger by a score of 14 - 0. The crowd was hoping for a shut out and Slugger was clearly shaken; he had already dropped to his knees twice in despair (to a chorus of oohs and aahs from the crowd) and had sparked up two smokes while playing. Finally Slugger scored a double in the 11th to get on the board and stay alive. However, like the freshly hatched mosquito, Slugger’s life in this game ended quickly. Sweetness laid in a soft and beautiful steal of one in the 12th end to win the game and advance to the second round.

FINAL SCORE
SLUGGER - 2
MANCAKE - 15
12 ends.
