The girth match up promised to be exciting. These two had not met since the summer of 1999. In a surprise error, after bossing the five previous games, Junior’s first rock was cast out of the rings for failing to gain permission from Boss Bobby D. to "Throw it up Boss?", The crowd in attendance gasped in horror and Junior hung his head in shame as Buzz cast in his first rock for a key point. Tension mounted and Junior regained his cool by the fourth end to tie the score at 3 after a tense measurement by Boss Bobby D. Thereafter, the game was very close and went a full 22 ends before buzz was victorious in a 19-17 win.

Junior comes back with a calming and form gathering win in yet another long game full of close measurements by Boss Bobby D. It was during this game that the quality of grooming by the Groomsman RedRob was emphasized and would set a precedent for future winter matches. Here, the Groomsman’s creed was uttered, "Equality for all".
