ROUND TWO 2nd Match-up

The Veteran The Summer Champ: Fremlin
GAME ONE
FREMLIN VS. JUNIOR

This match up was one for the fans. The reigning CARTA Summer Rocks champion, Fremlin, had been waiting in the wings during the first round watching to see who his opponent would be in the second round. Now he was ready and so were the fans. Junior, the wily veteran, was first to step into the arena to cheers and adulation from the fans and CARTA groupies. As silence fell the crowd awaited the arrival of their Champion. Word had spread that Fremlin was suffering from an illness that might keep him from the game. The crowd stared at the entrance to the arena with bated breath. The air was silent, almost deafening. Then, in the distance, someone saw him walking calmly into the arena from the other side of the frozen playing surface......... looking strong and looking good - in a tuxedo with a Fitty in hand. The crowd went wild and the flashes from the cameras were blinding. This true entertainer and lover of the sport was ready to give a show. And (to steal a phrase that seems more appropriate here) Holy Mackinac! were they going to get one.
Fremlin appears in the distance The first game was full of accurate shooting and pinpoint precision by both players. These two were so equally matched that there was hardly ever more than a deuce awarded. After 19 ends of back and forth play the ice finally broke (so to speak). In end 20 Junior had the hammer after taking just one in the 19th to tie the game at 12. After a very tense and close measurement, by Pit Boss Buzz, on all six rocks in the pit Junior had finally taken the game with an amazing triple.

FINAL SCORE
FREMLIN - 12
JUNIOR - 15
20 ends.

GAME TWO
FREMLIN VS JUNIOR

The fans were loving the close and exciting play. The beer was flowing freely and the light was fading. The match had to go on. With play this hot and competition this good how could it not? The second game was, again, much like the first with close measurements and almost every rock in the ring in every end. Once again the lead went back and forth between Fremlin and Junior. Then, in the 10th end the momentum stopped for a moment. As the light was fading and the temperature was dropping disaster struck for Fremlin and Pit-Boss Buzz. Thinking that the end was over Pit-Boss Buzz entered the pit declaring the score and began removing the rocks. Fremlin had not thrown his last rock and one of his rocks in the Rings had been moved by the Boss. Upon realizing his error, the Boss replaced the rock that he had moved, however, there was much discussion as to where exactly it had been before. The Boss’s word being final however, meant that it was going to stay where it was replaced by him. This visibly upset Fremlin and there will forever be discussion regarding the true effect on his game.
By the light of snowmobile and large lantern the game finally ended after 23 ends. Junior won with a deuce to take the game and the match 16 - 14. The fans, though cold and drunk, were happy to have seen their two favorites play such an entertaining match. They seemed unphased by Fremlin’s loss and neither did he. The two players shook hands, exchanged fresh Fitty’s with each other and waved to the crowd as they walked out of the arena to a chorus of cheers.

FINAL SCORE
FREMLIN - 14
JUNIOR - 16
23 ends.

Now the stage was finally set for the Final Match of the CARTA Year 2000 All - Star Rockin’Vitational . Who would be champion? It was to be decided in the afternoon of January 2, 2000.
